What we take care of

Five kinds of heating and cooling work. If you are not sure which one fits, describe the symptom — no heat, warm air, a leak, a system due for replacement — and we will sort it.

01

Heating

Boilers, furnaces, and heat pumps. We trace no-heat calls, rooms that never catch up, short-cycling, and noises that don't belong — then repair the unit, or talk through a replacement when another repair is no longer the sensible spend.

02

Cooling and air conditioning

Central air and ductless mini-splits, including the wall-mounted systems many New York apartments use when there is no ductwork. Typical calls: weak cooling, water where it shouldn't be, and a unit that will not start.

03

Installation

New equipment and change-outs. We look at the space, the pipes or ducts already there, and how the system is powered before recommending a size. A unit that's too big or too small is something you feel every season.

04

Repair and maintenance

Diagnostics, parts, and seasonal tune-ups. A visit before the first hard cold or the first heat wave is a calmer job than the same repair on that morning.

05

Emergency service

No heat in winter and no cooling in a heat wave should not sit in an inbox. Call, say what's happening and where you are, and we'll tell you the soonest we can be there. We don't print a response time this site can't keep.

Ventilation tied to the heating and cooling system — exhaust fans, fresh-air equipment, and airflow that is not doing its job — is part of the same conversation, not a separate company.

Why us

Built for the way New York buildings actually work.

A prewar steam loop, a rooftop condenser with a tired disconnect, a board that has rules about sleeve units — the constraint is usually the building. The Hardman Group does heating and cooling for that city.

  • A New York City crew

Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island. Walk-ups, brownstones, co-ops, condos, and houses — we plan around the building you have, not a mechanical room from a suburban brochure.

  • Licensed and insured

Ask us for current license and insurance documentation before work begins. We'll send what is on file for the job.

  • A straight answer on timing

When the heat or the air is out, call and we'll tell you the soonest we can be there. A real window on the phone beats a promise printed in advance.

  • The work, explained

You'll hear what's wrong, what we recommend, and what the visit involves before we start. If we find something else once we're in, we stop and tell you.

Service area

New York City, borough by borough.

We take calls across the city. If you are just outside the five boroughs, call anyway — we will tell you whether we can make the trip.

  1. Manhattan

High-rises, prewar apartments, and mechanical rooms tucked into basements and setbacks. We work around building access and the equipment that's already in the space.

  2. Brooklyn

Brownstones, walk-ups, and row houses — steam and hot-water heat in older buildings, mini-splits where ducts were never an option.

  3. Queens

Houses and apartment buildings spread across a large borough. Tell us the neighborhood when you call so we can judge the trip.

  4. The Bronx

Apartments and houses, including older boilers that still heat the building when they're looked after.

  5. Staten Island

Detached homes and smaller buildings, where a failing condenser or an aging furnace is often the whole job.

How a visit works

  1. 1

    Reach us

Call or send the form. The useful details are the borough, what's failing, and the best number to call back.

  2. 2

    We confirm the visit

We'll say whether we can take the job and when we can be there. Urgent calls get that answer directly.

  3. 3

We do the work, then explain it

What we found, what we did, and what to watch for next — in plain language, before we leave.

Request service

Tell us what the system is doing.

A short note is enough. “Mini-split in Astoria blowing warm air” is more useful than a perfect paragraph.
